1. Qu’est-ce que c’est le conditionnel présent
The present tense of the conditional is used to express that something would hypothetically happen in the present or in the future under certain conditions. It is formed by using the future stem of the verb and adding the endings of the imparfait tense: -ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient.
Examine the following conjugations of regular verbs in this tense. Remember that the future stem of a regular verb is simply the infinitive form of the verb:
| -ER verbs | -IR verbs | -RE verbs |
|---|---|---|
| REMARQUER (Would notice) | CHOISIR (Would choose) | VENDRE (Would sell) |
| je remarquerais | je choisirais | je vendrais |
| tu remarquerais | tu choisirais | tu vendrais |
| il/elle/on remarquerait | il/elle/on choisirait | il/elle/on vendrait |
| nous remarquerions | nous choisirions | nous vendrions |
| vous remarqueriez | vous choisiriez | vous vendriez |
| ils/elles remarqueraient | ils/elles choisiraient | ils/elles vendraient |
