French Circles Level 7

Welcome to French Circles Level 7. You are not anymore an Intermediate! Now you are in advanced Level. Congratulations! Now you know very well how to express yourself (Oral and writing) in French. You only want to improve your French Skills. During this seventh course you will continue to communicate in specifics real life situations and certainly you are more confident in the French language.

You are approaching advanced fluency. This level is designed to help you speak, write, and think in French with more sophistication. You’ll dive into complex grammar structures, refine your writing and oral expression, and explore abstract topics. Whether you’re preparing for academic, professional, or real-world settings, this level will give you the confidence to express yourself with nuance. Now is time to enjoy the language and just have fun! This is a conversational course so we encourage you to participate actively in this program.

Materials:

A binder with a notebook, handouts, a CD and a booklet named “Study Notes” will be provided by your teacher at the beginner of the class. Please keep the “Study Guide” in your binder at all times.

Class:

The teacher will focus on your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. During class you will work with the teacher, alone as well as with classmates. You will be expected to:

• Participate in a positive way and accept the challenges of learning and using a new language: French.
• Contribute to class practices in a personal and meaningful manner.
• Demonstrate tolerance, patience and courtesy towards your classmates and teacher.

Throughout your French course, we will be sharing with you links related to the class of such week. These links will be useful and fun resources that can be used by you in your free time. Additionally, using these free resources, will be as of great help for preparing you for the following weeks’ quiz, dictation and lesson.

What to expect from French Circles Level 7

By the end of this level you will be able to communicate in the following areas:

Listening:

• You will be able to follow extended speech, abstract discussions, and debates on unfamiliar or specialized topics.
• You will understand idiomatic and figurative language, including humor, sarcasm, and rhetorical nuance.
• You will comfortably follow interviews, documentaries, and native-level media with minimal need for repetition.
• You will recognize subtle differences in register, tone, and intention in fast-paced or regional speech.

Speaking:

• You will be able to express yourself fluently, adapting your language to formal, informal, or professional contexts.
• You will participate actively in debates, presentations, and spontaneous discussions, using accurate grammar and rich vocabulary.
• You will be able to paraphrase, hypothesize, and use rhetorical techniques to strengthen your arguments.
• You will express abstract ideas and sensitive topics (e.g. politics, ethics, society) with clarity and cultural sensitivity.

Writing:

• You will be able to produce well-structured, coherent texts using a wide range of grammar and vocabulary.
• You will confidently use stylistic and persuasive devices, narrative techniques, and complex grammatical structures.
• You will integrate advanced tenses and moods ( discours indirect au passé).
• You will adjust tone and vocabulary to suit a wide range of writing purposes and audiences.

Reading:

• You will be able to understand articles, short opinion pieces, and adapted literary texts at an B1 level.
• You will be able to infer meaning from context and understand tone and intention in a text.
• You will recognize stylistic differences between formal and informal writing.
• Your vocabulary will exceed 2000 words, including field-specific terminology and refined idiomatic expressions.

Homework:

 Because all students learn in different ways, in our class you will learn how to use various strategies to learn the French language. Therefore, Homework will be assigned each week.

Don’t forget to complete and check the homework assigned by submitting your dictations, readings and vocabularies using the buttons below. It will be based on the lesson of the day, including speaking practices, memorizing vocabulary and grammatical structures as well as creative writing assignments according to your level.  Put quality and time into your studies.

Quizzes and test:

Also, there is a Quiz or a dictation at the beginning of each class and a test every 3 weeks. Tests are important to learn a new language because they help you to practice and to test yourself. Take our Online Free French Tests as many times as you need to and keep practicing.
