Thierry : Tiens, bonjour Michel. Ça fait longtemps ! Ça va?

Michel : Bonjour, Thierry. Oui, je ne vais pas trop mal. Je te remercie.

Thierry : Tu as l’air un peu fatigué.

Thierry : Ah bon? Tu as des soucis?

Thierry : Ah bon?

Je me sens beaucoup mieux!

Thierry : Oh hello, Michael. It has been a long time! How are you?

Michel: Hello, Thierry. Yes I’m not doing too badly. Thank you.

Thierry: You seem tired.

Michel: Yes, I know, I haven’t been sleeping very well these last days.

Thierry: Really? Do you have any worries?

Michel: Oh, yes a few. No, as a matter of fact, I’m doing rather badly. I was laid off by Air France last month and in addition, I do not think Josephine loves me anymore.

Thierry: Why? I thought that things were going rather well with Josephine?

Michel: For more than a month she has been avoiding me. She does not call me back!

Thierry: Really. I am sorry. But one must not get discouraged. Everything heals with time.

Michel: I feel completely devastated. I feel that my life is worthless.

Thierry: Okay I am going to try to boost your morale: imagine that you are Louis XVI.

Michel: Ah, interesting, all the marquises and all the duchesses would be at my feet. Continue.

Thierry: We are in 1793, you have just been condemned to the guillotine. You are slowly lead towards the scaffold, before the excited crowd. The sparkling of the sharpened blade dazzles you. The steps of the platform creak under your feet. The executioner takes you brusquely by the arm and wedges your neck into the killing machine. You think about all these fabulous masquerade balls and the luxury of your palace. You remember the charming morning walks in your gardens in the company of the duchesses. Suddenly, you hear a click and the noise of a weight that falls. There is nothing, everything is over.

Michel: I thank you for having me experience an atrocious death in addition to my personal tragedy! I feel much better!

Thierry: But you don’t understand, you are alive. It is that is the most important! You have everything you need: friends, what you want to eat, and you are in good health. You focus too much on what does not word and you forget too much about what is going well in life.

Michel: Maybe, you are right, I am going to try!
