COMPRENDRE Subjonctif
COMPRENDRE Subjonctif : The subjunctive mood is used to express a contemplated or hypothetical action, a doubt, or a wish.
It is the mood of the unreal. In French, it often appears after verbs that convey desire, wish, doubt, emotion, or uncertainty.
Example:
I want you to understand the situation.
Je veux que tu comprennes la situation.
In its construction, the word “que” (or “qu’” before a vowel sound) is placed before the verb to indicate the subjunctive.
